Message from the President

The work of the Legal Resource Centre of Alberta Ltd. is to realize a new vision of how the public and the justice system can interact to improve the way justice is experienced in Canada.

Public legal education is necessary to ensure that people know their rights and responsibilities, recognize legal problems when they arise, and have access to appropriate services when they need them. It is critical that Canadians understand the role of law in our society and are equipped to assume the responsibilities we have as citizens. It is up to us to ensure that the justice system meets our needs and enjoys our confidence and support.

We are privileged to live in a country with a justice system that is so highly regarded internationally. But we must never take the system for granted nor assume that it cannot be improved. The Legal Resource Centre represents a call to action for both the justice community and the public. We must all work together to make justice responsive to the changing needs of our society.
